Carol finished Napa Valley in about forty five minutes in two painting sessions. Carol mixed coffee beans, red tempera paint and Elmer’s Glue-All in a bowl and scooped some of the mix with her hands onto the burlap board in several locations.

She mixed coffee grounds, a shade of brown tempera paint and Elmer’s Glue-All for her collaborator to put into a plastic squeeze bottle. Carol squeezed the mixture onto the edges of the burlap board, and then used her hands to blend the beans and grounds together.

At the next session small amounts of red, orange, or white acrylic paint were dabbed onto Carol’s middle finger tips by her collaborator. She then massaged areas on the burlap surface to accent the weave. Carol named her painting Napa Valley as the beans spread on the painting reminded her of a valley.
