Tom used a dripping paint platform to complete Drip Painting No. 8 in four painting sessions lasting about an hour each. For each session Tom had two button switches attached to his tray.

One switch activated a small fan facing the path of the falling paint drops. The other switch was connected to a rotating turntable and cassette player with Tom’s favorite music. Each time he activated the second switch music played for sixty seconds and the table top rotated for a complete revolution and then stopped.

At the first session white latex paint dripped from seven plastic bottles onto two canvases below. At the next three sessions sugar and tempera paint mixtures covered the canvases in the same matter with shades of blue, purple, or white.
