DRIP PAINTING NO. 1 - by Randy R.

|
Randy used a dripping paint platform to complete Drip Painting Number 1 in three forty minute sessions. He operated a button switch which was connected to a rotating turntable and a small vacuum cleaner.

Each time he touched his switch the noisy vacuum cleaner vented its exhaust in his direction for sixty seconds as the table top rotated for a complete revolution and then stopped. Bottles with sugar and tempera paint dripped onto the canvas resting on the turntable below. The color choices, the pace of the falling drops, and the locations of the paint bottles were determined by Randy’s collaborator.

Randy always enjoys a rush of wind in his face and the loud noise of a vacuum cleaner. For this painting he hit his switch constantly so that an almost continuous noise from the vacuum cleaner lasted for each entire session.
