DRIP PAINTING NO. 1 - by Randy R.
Randy hitting his BIG RED button switch. The canvas resting on the turntable after session one. Plastic bottles driping tempera paint mixed with sugar onto the canvas below. Bottles driping sugar paint onto the canvas at the second session.
Randy used a dripping paint platform to complete Drip Painting Number 1 in three forty minute sessions. He operated a button switch which was connected to a rotating turntable and a small vacuum cleaner.
Randy hitting his switch at the second session. Bottles dripping more sugar paint at the second session. Randy hitting his switch at the third session. The canvas rotating on the turntable during the third session.
Each time he touched his switch the noisy vacuum cleaner vented its exhaust in his direction for sixty seconds as the table top rotated for a complete revolution and then stopped. Bottles with sugar and tempera paint dripped onto the canvas resting on the turntable below. The color choices, the pace of the falling drops, and the locations of the paint bottles were determined by Randy’s collaborator.
Plastic bottles continue dripping sugar paint at the third session. The canvas spinning on the turntable near the end of the third session. CLICK HERE to see the finished painting.
Randy always enjoys a rush of wind in his face and the loud noise of a vacuum cleaner. For this painting he hit his switch constantly so that an almost continuous noise from the vacuum cleaner lasted for each entire session.
