LAZY EIGHT - by Tom J.
Tom used a dripping paint platform to complete Lazy Eight in one session that lasted forty five minutes. He operated two button switches attached to the tray of his wheel chair.

|
The first was connected to a rotating turntable and cassette player with music. Each time he activated this switch his favorite music played for sixty seconds and the table top rotated for a complete revolution before stopping. The second switch turned on a small fan facing the path of the falling paint drops for sixty seconds each time it was activated.

Eight bottles with sugar and tempera paint mixtures dripped shades of red or white onto the pre-prepared black canvas resting on the turntable below. The color choices, the pace of the falling drops, and the locations of the paint bottles were determined by Tom’s collaborator.

The canvas was repositioned halfway through the session allowing Tom to cover the entire surface. He used the turntable switch often, and about twice as much as the fan switch.
