 |
| Joel finished Acrylic on Tempera with Sugar in one painting session lasting about thirty minutes. He began by dipping a medium sized brush into a bowl of green tempera paint mixed with sugar and proceeded to completely cover his canvas. |

| His collaborator squeezed various colors of acrylic paint from tubes into small styrofoam bowls and Joel switched to a smaller brush choosing one color at time to merge with his green background. Joel took his time blending each color into his painting with short deliberate strokes. He added brown, blue, magenta, more white, and then blue acrylic paint. |

| At one point he also poured some pink tempera sugar paint from a small plastic bottle onto the canvas and blended it in. Joel thoroughly enjoyed his painting session smiling most of the time as he painted. |
