Scott finished Pudding Piece No. 1 in two sessions. At the first session, a batch of chocolate instant pudding was mixed with wheat flour, water and red acrylic paint. Smaller batches of vanilla instant pudding mixed with wheat flour, water and red, or tan, acrylic paint were also prepared.

Scott’s collaborator then scooped portions of the mixtures onto one end of the canvas. Using a paint brush, Scott spread the paint mixtures by extending his right arm and then quickly swinging it in an arc banging it onto the canvas. More paint was added and the canvas was repositioned for Scott to reach other areas.

At the second session orange acrylic paint was mixed with wheat flour, water, and butterscotch, chocolate, or lemon instant pudding. These mixtures were then spooned onto the canvas by Scott’s collaborator for him to spread with his brush. As a final touch, Scott smeared a few drops of white acrylic paint that were dabbed onto the canvas.
