| Derek completed Foot Painting Number 1 in two thirty minute sessions. Vanilla instant pudding was mixed with water, flour, and acrylic paint for each session. At the first session a reddish brown and then a blue mixture were prepared. |

| Scoops of the brown batch were spooned onto each end of the canvas by Derek’s collaborator. The canvas was then positioned under Derek’s feet and gradually raised until his feet began to spread the paint. As various quizzical looks appeared on Derek’s face, his collaborator moved the canvas from side to side spreading the paint further. The blue batch was then spooned onto the middle of the canvas and spread in the same manner. |

| At the second session vanilla instant pudding was mixed with water and white acrylic paint and spooned directly onto Derek’s right foot by his collaborator, who then positioned the canvas for Derek to spread the paint in two places, finishing the work. |
