| Beth finished Sugar Painting No.1 in one painting session lasting about fifty minutes. She began by dipping her brush into a container of orange sugar paint, spreading it with circular motions in the middle of the canvas. |

| With the help of her collaborator she then squeezed several colors of sugar paint from small plastic bottles onto the canvas blending them into the growing center area of the canvas. Beth giggled often and was easily distracted, dropping her brush on the canvas, but each time her collaborator handed it back to her she began to happily paint in sweeping circular motions again. |

| Her collaborator helped her finish the painting by pouring sugar paint into empty areas and moving the canvas under her brush from time to time to get her to stroke the edges and unpainted areas. |
