UNTITLED II - by Don Miller

|
Don finished Untitled II in one painting session lasting about twenty minutes. His canvas board was placed on a rotating turntable as Don alternatively squeezed pre-mixed sugar paint from small plastic bottles, or larger plastic squeeze bottles, onto the surface.

In this way he poured orange sugar paint, green, red, and then pink onto the canvas board. The turntable was then taken away and Don used a one inch rounded brush to begin blending the streaks of sugar paint with broad sweeping strokes. After a few minutes he squeezed some white sugar paint onto the center of his canvas with a plastic squeeze bottle and blended it in.

He used his brush to dip into plastic containers of black, and then some white, adding more sugar paint to the artwork. During the blending process one of his collaborators helped him to cover the edges by moving the canvas board under his brush as he painted.
