Doug finished Suey in one painting session lasting about thirty minutes. As he was offered a large canvas to fill, Doug chose to paint with a one inch brush and large strokes.

He started by painting a large orange circle in the center of the canvas, then surrounded it with a dark green sugar paint, and then a lighter shade of green sugar paint. Doug then dipped his brush into the yellow paint and blended strokes of yellow into the green areas. Next he added more dark green to empty areas of the canvas finally blended a peach colored sugar paint over most of the canvas.

He painted the edges of the canvas last, using the peach sugar paint working his way around the complete canvas. Doug thoroughly enjoyed his painting session stopping from time to time to smile into the camera almost each time his collaborator took a picture of his progress.
